Revealed: Why Do Cats Like Boxes So Much? | Purina

so you might have the question for a long time, WHY???

Reasons:

Hide, observe prey and feel safe...

The short phrase above basically explained everything. Study even shows that sheltered cats provided with boxes to hide will generally recovered more quickly. It's unbelievable! Well... our great mother nature.

So, here comes the very first and obvious reason

  1. Wrong Shape: a lot of pet-rents bought the wrong cat bed for their cats shown as below:I'm sure you got the point, who's sleeping on it? yeeees, a dog! a dog doesn't need anywhere to hide!
  2. Wrong material: some beds won't provide the comfort or warmth that cats like, maybe the stuffing is too hard, or it feels cold to lay on them. Cats prefer something comfy and warm.
  3. Wrong location: it could be either too cold, or it gives unsafe feeling to cats. They prefer somewhere high and hard to reach, so that no one can bother them.

Solutions:

1, Pick a bed with cover: a bed with cover will give them a good sense of secure and safe, click here to check out our fluffy & comfy cat bed here.

2, Pick a good location: somewhere quiet and clean with open view will do, especially the spot that they usually sleep at. If your cat prefer somewhere high, a nice window perch as I mentioned above might be a great choice too!

3, Place your cats favourite toys in the new bed: The toys usually have your cats smell and that definitely helps your cat to get fimiliar with its new bed. Sprinkle some catnip might help too, if your cat likes catnip. Leave the toys in the bed, but don’t pick your cat up and bring it to the bed. Let it figure out itself.

4, Offer treats and compliments when your cats use the new bed: Give your cat treats only when you first see it get into its bed because cats don’t like being disturbed while sleeping.

5, last but not least, do not force your cat

I hope this would help!
